are the bits on a KZ cop bike better than the run of the mill kz1000j's out there. Specifially the rear shocks. Are they any better than my current stock shocks?

And what about the engine components that would swap to my 1000j engine(pistons, carbs, exhaust. Are there any other perks???

traded my classic Kz's for a 2001 Kz1200r

If any parts are different, I doubt they are better quality. They are all made at the same place. I'm pretty sure the engines are the same, I think the difference is in the lights and wiring.

quite a bit is differant between the KZ1000 and the Police Model

Differant Frame, Front end, Tires & Rims, Seat, Gas Tank, Wiring Harness, Handle Bars, Gauges, Mufflers, Floor Boards instead of front pegs, Side Stand and prolly more that I just cant think of at the moment.

But the engine and side covers are the same :)

I was talking to a bike shop mechanic at a Vintage Japanese Club meeting. He claimed that he'd seen lots of ex-cop bikes with worn out transmissions. His theory was that your average motor cop goes thru the gears all day, every day, and the trannys are pretty much clapped out by the time the bikes get retired to civilian use.
Just someone's opinion, but he seemed credible.
