Brakes

I bleed the front and rear brakes and replaced the pads. Front are 96 zx9, rear are 2001 zrx12.
The rear release well and there is no friction when I rotate the wheel. The front has a fare bit of friction when I rotate the wheel. Is there a way to get the pistons to retract more to relieve the friction??

I don't think so. Is the caliper assembly free to float on the pins? Sometimes they get gunked up and will drag because the caliper can't re-center itself.

One thing I learned the hard way on cars: new pads are usually a bit oversize to allow for turning the rotors to get them dead smooth. If pads are metallic or semi metallic, they EXPAND as they get hotter. If they are already dragging enough to heat up, they will heat the rotor even more as you drive as they continue to expand. If the pads are organic, usually a little drag won't hurt anything. The pads will seat themselves pretty quickly.

Thanks for the reply bounty.
i had the caliper compleatly apart to paint them, then added new pads. the bike is not running yet, just on stands.new lines and no rust on any parts. they are syntered pads.the caliper does not float but the pads float on pins.no rust or gunk there.
