Side covers for the 1978 KZ 650B was created by KOOL RYDER
Please help me with this one.....

I have a 1978 KZ650B with one side cover on the left hand side that has kawasaki in lowercase letters and the right side has KAWASAKI in upper case letters.

What was the original set up for the side covers? Was the left side really lower case or do I have a replacement part?

I think that I read something about the 78 model having slightly differnt styling cues such as this, but I would like to confirm it.

Does anyone know where I can find new side covers for both sides? The current side covers are scratched, I have polished them, but I want to treat myself to some shiny covers.

Thanks for your help

Sorry ...I meant to clarrify that it is not the KZ650 side pannels for the elcetronics, but the covers for the clutch and whatever is on the right side of the engine.

If I'm not mistaken the 78 B should have all capital lettering on the KAWASAKI lettering on the engine covers. The lowercase lettering happened later (I think). My guess is that at some point the stator was replaced with a used part at some point and instead of swapping the stator yolks into the correct cover someone just threw the newer style but not matching stator cover on.
I don't know a source other than ebay to find these covers, sometimes NOS ones will come up or you'll get lucky and find someone that's got some in really good condition for sale.
