Any difference in police cast wheels and early LTD cast wheels?

Maybe a better question is...

What variations are there among the stock cast wheels?
Also curious if a nice set of cast wheels would have any value in swap toward a nice set of wires.

Thanks.

I have a set of mags from a '79 650 C3. 19" front and 18" rear. Dual disc up front and single disc in back. The discs have been sold as well as the front calipers and master cylinder are gone. The rear swing arm I still have as well as the rear master cylinder and caliper, which both would need rebuilding.

howzit brah!
police front wheels are 18"s, are wider at the disc-mount flanges- the whole front assy is wider.

don't know about LTD's, but I think they use a 4-bolt disc mount pattern(you mentioned "early"); the "P's" have a 6-bolt pattern.

Learned a little since original post ;-)
But, police fronts are 18"? Are you sure?
Police rear is 18". Old LTD rear is 16".

Here's what I know. All KZ's and LTD's have a 19 front, KZ's have a 18 rear and LTD's have a 16 rear, Z1R's have 18's front and rear as well as police having 18's on both ends. The police and the LTD's have the shinny area on the flat of the rim between the spokes and rhe rim face.

Real early KZ's just have a smooth edge, no rim lip. 19x1.85 18x2.15

Later KZ's with lip 19x1.85 18x2.15

Z1R front 18 rim lip 18x1.85

LTD rear 16x3.00

Police Front 18x2.15 rear 18x2.50

No problem.

I dug the KZP roller out from behind the pile of 'what was I thinking?' bikes this afternoon. Yep. 18" front and rear.

Took half the day to get to it ;-).

A KZ frame is more practical than the police when it comes to a home for my KZ engine. If any of you local guys care to swap, let me know. Otherwise I'm gonna start cutting and welding come June(after the Triumph twins are done). I have impound lot auction paperwork with the police frame.

I'd like to trade the wire wheels on my 81 KZ650-CSR for a set of cast wheels from an 80 KZ650-F - reference nickap's bike. To me it's a pain to clean & de-rustify all those spokes. And with the wire spoke wheels there's also the additional spoke tightening maintenance. I'm a little lazy about some tasks.

JMK.

I did a mag swap on my 81 650CSR and used mags from a 550 LTD. It is a 100% bolt on swap nothing to modify at all. If you are looking to replace your spokes you might want to try using these as the 550 LTD's are more plentiful than the 650 F's. You should be able to find lots of 550 mags on Ebay and they usually don't fetch more than 25 or 30 bucks. Also the 650 F used an 18" rear wheel so you would have to buy a rear tire as well.
