Headlight Fork Ears 1976 KZ900A4 was created by WmsKaw
Hi,

I'm a bit of an FNG to the Kaw scene, I have a '76 KZ900A4 that I've inherited. It had a Vetter fairing on it, which I didn't like the appearance of so I've removed it, revealing rather ugly headlight fork ears that have scaled up badly due to years of being stored outside (carport) and probably no polishing, ever.

I have managed to locate a replacement set that are in far better condition and I was wondering if there is a simple way to remove and replace them without completely disassembling the front end.

Thanks

Charlie Posey

That's a pretty easy thing to do. I just changed a bent one a few weeks ago on my 76 900. All you need to do is put it up on the centerstand and prop up the frontend with a jack. Then remove the top triple clamp. You can leave the gauges, handlebars and everything else intact. Just kind of roll the entire works forward, change out the rusty fork ears and put everything back together in reverse of how it came apart. Might take you an hour or so.

Sweet.

I was hoping it was that simple but I wasn't sure.

Thanks!
