Per FSM for 1979 KZ1000-A3 (standard model) and D2 (Z1R-II Cafe Racer): fork oil level with front wheel suspended off ground and spring removed is 441mm from top of inner fork tube. Refill when completely dry after reassembly is 180-188cc. FSM cautions not to overfill.

Please note the mentioned FSM does not purport to cover the 1979 KZ1000-LTD. Would guess the LTD likely has same specs, but truly don't know. The A3 and D2 front axles fit directly under the lowers. Don't recall whether the LTD front axle might be located on front side of lowers, but if so, such different fork design may make a difference in the fork oil specs.

Good Luck! :)

Edit -- Believe the LTD axle is also located directly under the axle.

So did I back when I was young... now I run the stock weight.

Heavy oil really makes them stiff.

As has been suggested by other members, 180-188 ml (cc)/fork...this is verified by the 1979B3 FSM supplement:)
