Vibration reduction Ideas? Health Concern! was created by MikePotter86
Hey Everyone,
I have a KZ750 with superbike bars on it, it has Z1 signals, mirrors, etc. but other than that it is stock. I was wondering if anyone had advice on vibration reduction?
I was thinking of doing new grips, and possible bar end weights. I already have rubber insulation rings ( which I took off the old handlebar mounted turn signals) where the bars mount to the bike.

I have low blood pressure and have circulation issues, and the numbness in my hands is made worse by excessive vibration.

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

in the dirt world we use a big tube of silicone in the pistol grip applicator and stick it in one end of the handlebars and start filling up the handle bars with the silicone.after it dries, you will notice a whole lot less vibration.that is about the only use for silicone that i have, and you don't have to remove your bars to do it and it is pretty cheap for the amount of reduction you will experience.

Fill your bar with lead shot and get a pair of steel (not aluminum or plastic) bar ends.

Some areas to check --

Tight handlebar clamps
Tight fork tube clamps
Tire condition (front not cupped)
Tires balanced (especially front)
Both wheels true and undamaged
Correct air pressure in tires
Good wheel bearings, properly lubed
Good kink-free drive chain
Well lubed drive chain
Properly adjusted drive chain (slack and alinement)
Wheel alinement
Good sprockets
Tight motor mounts
Cam chain adjusted
Carbs synched and adjusted
Overall good tuning (plugs, valve clearances, etc.)
Exhaust connection to frame (see following post)

All thinking of at the moment.

Good Luck! :)

Am guessing oem exhaust system has dampers between it and frame. Perhaps the existing dampers are old and hard and could be replaced.

This is similar to the small rubber "motor mount" I've been using for many years when installing a 4>1 exhaust system.
These are available in several different variations, stud length, thread type, etc.

Replacing the rubber footpeg dampers may also help quell some of the vibration. They are available from Z1E.

Here's a link to those that might fit (but if not, Z1E also carries them for other models):

Good Luck! :)

Thank you for all the advice, went throught the checklist, most seems good.

Tight handlebar clamps- good
Tight fork tube clamps- good
Tire condition (front not cupped)- brand new tires
Tires balanced (especially front)- just balanced
Both wheels true and undamage- nothing noticeable
Correct air pressure in tires- prefect
Good wheel bearings, properly lubed- will look into, vibration is only while bike is running.
Good kink-free drive chain- Brand new
Well lubed drive chain- just lubed
Properly adjusted drive chain (slack and alinement)- good
Wheel alinement- just adjusted
Good sprockets- brand new
Tight motor mounts- seem tight
Cam chain adjusted- adjusted under 500 miles ago
Carbs synched and adjusted- have not synched carbs before, may look into this.
Overall good tuning (plugs, valve clearances, etc.)- good
Exhaust connection to frame (see following post) good
