longer swingarm

im looking to get just alittle longer swingarm, bout 3-4 inches. is there anything that would be a direct bolt on or very slight mods? if i have to do too much cutting or welding, ill just go with a mono shock swingarm. any ideas?

gs1100 will fit the best i believe, do a quick search in the forums. the projects section of the forum has tons of monoshock conversions as well. good luck

Don't think you will find any stock arms that would be 3"-4" longer than a stock KZ arm. A GS1100 arm is about 1 1/2" longer and is close to a bolt on. If you use any of the newer arms off a modern sportbike, you will probably have to have extensions added to get to your 3"-4" longer goal. You would probably be better off and faster to just find a chromoly arm made for a KZ in the length you want. That way it would be a bolt on for you. You can get them from stock length up to 6" longer that will work like a stock arm. I may be wrong here, and others can correct me if so, but newer arms, including mono-shock arms, will be shorter than what you are looking for. Extensions are about $300 so by the time you bought a newer swingarm and extensions to get your length, it would be costly. Depends on how much you want to spend and how important it is to have a specific arm. Sometimes that does play into it.

im not really all that picky aobut getting it, i kind of like the prostreet look and thought i might go that route. the new sprt bike mono shocks whould be fine too. ive got a buddy with a 73-74? kz 900 with gsxr frontend and rear, plus he has a badass turbo on it, this thing is fast! off topic, but i just sold him a 74 z1 900 motor for what was probably a hell of a deal for him, what should i have asked for it, and back to the topic. which crotch rocket swingarms are the easiest to adapt? ive built several hardtail frames for bike, so the fabrication part isnt an issue, i just want to be able to do it fast and get to riding.

If you want to do a complete rear end swap then all the Suzuki rear ends will go in i.e. GSXR600/750/1000/Busa. You'll need an offset front sprocket and probably machining on the rear sprocket carrier to get the chain alignment right. Might as well convert to 530 chain too. My turbo is adjustable 0-4" over stock using welded-in extensions and a GSXR600 arm with a Busa wheel.

If you just want a bit longer arm and to keep your KZ running gear then as Racer54 says a used moly dragbike arm would be your best bet.

if i can get a mono shock setup to work, id be fine with the stock lenght. are the swingarm bolts and everything the same size and width? the off set sprocket isnt a problem, and i assume there needs to be some material taken off of the rear sprocket mount to move it in abit? if the swingarm mount doenst need a bunch of mods, ill probably go that route. i guess if need be, i could lengthen my own swingarm also, ive dont several of those, but its time consuming, was looking for something faster like the gsxr coversion. any pice of what im going to be looking at, like the mono shock mount?

Here's what I did for a mono-shock mount. The newer Gsxr's will have to have custom bearing spacers made for the pivot bolt.

A bolt-on 'moly arm will be the easiest and you won't have to deal with getting all the linkage angles and mounting points right.
