Chassis setup and wheel alignment. was created by TexasKZ900
I have a 1976 KZ900 project that I need some advice on. I’m using the front end and both wheels from a 1995 ZX7 and the swing arm from a 1989 GSXR.
I need to know if the back wheel is 6mm offset to the right side of center, will that hurt the bikes ride or performance?

i don't think it would in a straight line but you could shim the wheel back to center where the pivot bolt for the swing arm is but thats just a thought off the top of my head.

Thanks for for the info, I thought of doing that on the swingarm but I would need to cut about 4mm off the left side and I don't know if the bearing would fit back in.

You can't use spacers to move the wheel over, then mill the sprocket mount down to get your chain alignment?

yea or depending which side it's offset to, shim it over and use an extended output sprocket. As for the bearings, i don't know if they have a tapered race inside the swingarm or if it's something else but if it's a race and you have access to a mill it wouldn't be too hard to redo a new race. just my thoughts

I'm with Steell. Don't mill the arm just in case you ever want to swap wheels. You may be able to get way with milling the seal lip off your sprocket carrier and use a sealed bearing. The ZX wheels tend to be wider through the hub than a Gsxr rim is so that's why your rim is shoved over. BTW, the Gsxr swingarm uses needle bearing.
