Heavy Duty Rear Shocks for KZ650-B2?
19 May 2008 06:20
With my new tires (Bridgestone Spitfires), and the wife on the back, I find I can bottom the rear suspension in fast corners (as well as slow bumps). Does anybody have a recommendation for upgraded, or heavy duty, rear spring/shocks?
By the way, I bought the Bridgetones from Iron Pony - great price, and so far I am very happy with them!

I just ordered some progressive wound type shocks from
www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-suspension.php?category_id=6.1
. (I ordered the 12 3/4" in black) I just ordered them last night so I don't have a review yet. The piggybacks are real decent priced too and I've read good stuff about them on other forums.

Sometimes a Harley shock from a Sportster can be made to fit by swapping out bushings. Get them off ebay.

Thanks for the info guys - the XS-650 units look like a great deal!
Kent - your profile pic also helped me out (my KZ is the same year and color) - I could not figure out what the two threaded holes were for just under the tank - small, round, reflectors is the answer! Did you refinish your cam-cover? If so, how?

I'll make sure to let everyone know how well the shocks work out once I get the project all together and rideable.

Internet pics make a frog look like a prince, didn't you know that?
I just cleaned it up with degreaser and a scrub pad. Thanks for the compliment though, it's been awhile since I got one. Guess that means I need to stop riding and start polishing....mmmm... maybe not.
