Lower bearing race - How do I get this off? - pic

Can't get the bottom race off. There's a thin spacer/ring all the way on the bottom, then rubber ring and then the bottom race that the bearing balls sit in. What is the best way to pry this off? I will be installing roller bearings so I'm guessing these rings need to go?
Thanks

I put in tapered bearings last week, I don't recall any problem getting it off. I pried it up with a big screwdriver blade. It did ruin the rubber seal. Remove them all you won't need them.

I had to crack one to get it off with a small very sharp cold chisel after fighting with it for a few evenings. It wouldn't budge with a screwdriver, a screwdriver and hammer, or propane torch, screwdriver and bigger hammer. I wasn't going to grind it off and make a mess of everything. Cracking it was easy.

Pick up a cheap wood chisel and with the bevel toward the bearing drive it in between the lower triple clamp and the stem. Work your way around. It'll move.

A few evenings, whew. I had it easy i guess. Mine was off in less than a minute.

I use a cut off wheel. Grind a slot in the race, but not all the way through. Hit the race with a chisel and it will crack it then just slide it off.

I'm cutting a slot in it on one side with a dremel, and will hit it with the cold chisel. We'll see what happens...

If prying doesn't work, use a cut off wheel and don't bother with a slot. You ain't gonna want to save it anyway.
