How Do You Lift the Front Wheel Off the Ground?

I use a floor-jack...

If I want to lift the FRONT,I put the jack under the oil-filter bolt.
If I want to lift eh REAR,I put it under the center-stand mount(center-stand is off the bike, btw).

This has worked flawlessly for me for a lot of years now, with no issues.
If I plan on leaving it raised,yes I WILL use a come-a-long,or a tie-down,and secure it to the rafters.B)

On a KZ650 with stock exhaust a small bottle jack under the front of the engine with a piece of 3/4" plywood on top to protect the oil pan works great (using the centerstand of course).

Maybe not applicable on the 750 twin, but on the large fours, I use a short length of 2x4 with a shallow hole drilled in it which fits snugly around the oil plug and keeps the 2x4 held in position under the engine whether using floor jack or bottle jack. :)

Sounds like a winner.

Try a roadrace type front stand . They lift from the fork bottoms or under the steering stem .

I use the come-along to the rafters. I came across a couple of nylon straps with triangular shaped closed eyes on each end that hook into the come-long nicely. One strap is wrapped around the support beam and the other goes under and behind the steering head. The arrangement allows me to raise and lower the front end as needed.

A "cherry picker" style engine hoist may work as well.

Or, you can use a long tie down and a 2x12.
Place tie down on floor.
Place 2x12 over tie down.
Place bike ON centerstand ON 2x12.
Attach hooks on tie downs to rear of frame on each side.
Push down on back of bike and tighten straps as you go.
Front wheel will be suspended off the ground.
I have used that successfully many times.

Ding, ding, ding! That's a winner! You might go one step further by screwing a 2x4 cleat to the back of the 2x12. Screw a couple of eyelets into it to hook the tie downs to. This will make the tie downs more secure and the combination of tie downs and cleat will hold the center stand solid up against the frame.

I'm going to go home a make one of those up this weekend. Great idea, Mario.

I picked that info up a long time ago from the Concours Owners Group.
If they can do it with there 1000cc touring bikes, it works for me!
