Chain length for 630/530 swap was created by kneedragger80
I want to change from a 630 to a 530 chain on my 750E.

Current ratio: 33/13 = 2.54
New ratio: 40/16 = 2.5
Chain: 84 link = 100 link

I have 2 questions:

1) Do I have to increase the link count on the new chain to account for the increased number of teeth on the new sprockets?

2) I'm assuming I'll have to shim out the front sprocket, is there an off the shelf spacer available for this?

Thanks

To be safe, you can order 102 link chain from Z1E for about the same price as 100 links and cut off what you don't need.
The 102 link 530 chain is what I use on my 650's

front sporcket shim

if you go to z1e they have a section that tells you what chain/sprockets to use for the conversion. I did it on the 1000, I wasnt comfortable with myself, so I called and spoke to Rob...Got it right.

Note: if you go with the "o" ring chain, buy the install tool!!!!, worth the money

why do u think u have to shim the front sprocket? the chains should be the same thickness.

I've searched the forums and the Z1E website for info and just wanted more info from members before I call. For some reason I just assumed I'd have to shim the front sprocket, mistakenly I guess.

Thanks to all.
