well i have my 6 inch extended swingarm and solid rear struts on. now im looking for a wheel

was thinking of a ninja rear wheel to accomodate for a 190 tire or 6 or 7 inch slick

feww questions though. are the axle sizes on those bikes the same>? if not can i sleeve the axle?

also can i use the stock rotor and caliper setup or do i need to custom fab something.?

any input would be appreciated. thanks guys

It might be easier to use the caliper that was used on whatever wheel you choose and build a braket for the arm. That way you know it's right and you will only need to fab up the bracket for the arm.

When I did my rear wheel conversion I looked for a rear wheel with 20mm axle bearings because the swingarm came with a 20mm axle. I also had to go with a 5.5" with rim as a 6 inch rim would not allow me to fit a 190 rear tire. Be prepared to fab some wheel spacers (have plenty of patience on this part as it is the most important part) and that's about all I remember I had to do. Its been a while so I may have forgot something but I think thats pretty much it. Oh I had to clearance the frame so the chain would not hit. A torch and a heavy hammer should do the trick.

What did you use to make the wheel spacers? It would be easier to use the whole brake system that was original with whatever wheel you decide to use,but I have seen many KZ's using a 17" 5.5 rear wheel using the stock caliper. Only problem is that the caliper JUST fits and you have to assemble and disassemble the rear brake with the wheel as a unit.

Man, you must be old like me! LOL I like the newer mags BUT...wire wheels still make me think of REAL bikes. Guess that tells our age, but like seeing the motor on a bike, wire wheels make it a bike.

I'm using the complete rear brake system from a 1992 ZX7. As far as spacers I had a few rear wheels lying around with spacers so I had the oversized spacers milled down to fit.

They make spacers out of aluminum that are used on dragbikes, but am still trying somewhere to get them. They sell them in length and you cut them to fit, but as I'm not a shop that does this,I am still in the dark. I have an idea where to go,but haven't checked into it yet. Or if you are a machinist, then this isn't a problem like it is for the rest of us mere mortals. Might be an idea to find spacers off any bike with same size axle as I'm sure they are light and make them fit. Unless, of course, you are a machinist and.......
