ELR seatcover was created by ThatGPzGuy
Hey gang,
I am getting rid of the non-stock seatcover on my ELR clone. I bought an ELR seatcover on eBay and would like to recover the seat myself. Upholstery experience? Some. I recovered my Bronco seats and am in the middle of recovering my Mustang seats. I have also done a couple of dirt bike seats. However these were all stock covers...
from looking at the seat and the pictures of what I want to eventually end up with it looks like I need to reshape the foam. Those of you who have done this...what do I need to know? Or, should I bite the bullet and take it to someone?
TIA,
Jim

Hello Jim...are you trying to modify (ELRify) the seat for your KZ750R1? If so, the seat pan is slightly smaller than a J/R/B model seat pan (that the eBay seat cover is designed to fit). That said, I think that member 'GPz750KS'
actually did what you are considering, so you might want to PM him directly. FYI, the seat pan for a J/R/B model does not fit correctly on the KZ750R1 frame...however, I have seen a few KZ750R1's with ELR seats so it is possible.

Hi McDroid,
I am trying to do Exactly what GPZ750KS did. In fact, he is the one who gave me the idea. I am hoping he chimes in but if not I will PM him.

Are you saying the ELR seatpan is larger than the GPz seat pan? I guess that would be better than teh alternative. I laid the cover on the seat and it looks pretty close. I have not taken off the old seatcover yet but I cannot wait as it is non-stock and looks awful.

I had thought I might have to cut foam "by-the-seat-of-my-pants" (no pun intended) to get this cover to work but if someone who has done it successfully can guide me...all the better.
Thanks,
Jim

The ELR seatpan (KZ1000R1/2, KZ1100R1) is the same pan as the KZ1100B1/2 (=GPz1100) and the KZ1000J1/2/3...the GPz750 seatpan (yours) is smaller than those mentioned. Richard (GPz750KS) travels frequently so he doesn't always answer PM's or emails immediately.

Hey, I'm hoping that you (or anybody else) can help me with this Mod, as it seems that you were into it about two years ago. I want to Mod my seat, and like the ELR seat look - what did you have to do to make it work?

Thanks in advance,
Tony
