just curious, i'm rollin a stock 33 tooth rear sprocket on my 750. well i need a new one and i see a few 38 and 40t on ebay for pretty cheap. well my question is, if i go up in the rear am i gonna loose my low end torque? considering most of my riding is in the city, i'd prefer to keep that. thanks guys

What is your chain size? The 33 tooth sprocket is typically for a 630 chain and the larger 38+ sprockets are for 530 chains (usually). Going straight from a 33 to a 38+ (assuming same chain size) will provide you with an incredible amount of low end torque, but your top speed will decrease drastically.

This is why you see the oversized sprockets on stunts bikes. Lots of torque = easier wheelies. Here's a couple of links that give a better explanation:

thanks! i was thinking it would do the opposite, i think i might go that route! i am running a 630x84 currently, but i might switch over to a 530
