kz650 front master cylinder leak was created by monsterman21
Hey everyone I have a 1980 kz650 ltd and just put dual disc front brakes on it with new pads and was using the stock master cylinder for it. It has hardly any squeeze to it, like it feels spongey but does have some stopping power. Everytime i pull in the lever it leaks a little fluid onto the brake lever. Is there a better front master cylinder setup I could use that is meant for the front brakes like off a kz 750 700 or 1000? or is there an aftermarket one i could use or rebuild this one? If you find someting keep in mind i have drag bars on it with no rise and its pretty tight and i need a website that takes money orders.

Thanks in advance

sounds like you need to rebuild the master, if you look at Z1 they have kits for them just make sure you order the right one, there are some differant piston sizes

Look for a 14-15mm or 5/8" master cylinder, it will work better with the dual disk brakes. Kawasaki used a 5/8" on the bikes that came stock with dual disks.

I have always had problems bleeding the dual disk setups that used the brake splitter mounted on the lower triple clamp, due to it's design it traps air that is difficult to get out. I used dual lines from the master cylinder all the way to the calipers on my last conversion (95 GPz1100 master cylinder, 84 GPz750 calipers, KZ1000 drilled disks, on my 79 750 twin), and solved that problem :)

I just ordered it, they have one auction for a kz700 750 900 then 1000 and another auction for 650 and lower but no difference in size it was 14mm for the fitting and 10x1.125 threads so i just ordered it. When i get it i will be sure to tell you if it works well.
