Parts bin 750 twin rearsets was created by steell
Getting the 750 twin ready for spring, and repairing the results of my crash last fall.
Had to replace the left side foot peg since grounding it was the cause of the crash, so I thought hmmm, maybe I can flip them over so they will be back and up a little and more comfortable (and more lean clearance).
So I flipped them side to side and upside down, and didn't really like the position, so I hunted through the parts bin and found a set that I think are KZ650. Put them on and flipped the pegs and that worked. Then I thought I'd try a set of GPz750 pegs, since the stock ones were at an odd angle now, and the passenger pegs off a 83 GPz750 fit right in (ok, had to drill out the holes for the pins), and left me with a flat surface for me feet instaed of the angle for the stock ones.

Cut the brake pedal and slid the pedal end inside of the other end then brazed it together.

Made a pivot pin on the lathe and threaded one end, drilled a hole between the footrest mount bolts, fastened the pin to the frame, then used a GPz750 shift pedal and linkage I pulled out of the parts bin.

Cost $0.00 and here is the result.

Cheap and easy :)

Cool tip!
...but how did I miss you mentioning that you crashed due to foot peg scraping?
Knee dragging the twin, eh?

Yeah, how did I miss that too?
Well, glad to hear you survived!
The pegs sound cool, I'll have to check them later.
(i'm at work and the firewall won't let me see the pix.)

Nah, not knee dragging at the time :)

Did you know that if the seal in the front master
cylinder is bad it can work fine one second, then
fail totally the next second? Not a good thing when
coming up on a 90 degree turn. I'd have made it through
if my 8 year old girl hadn't been on the back, her weight
compressed the suspension enough that the bike pivoted
on the peg. I shut the ignition off as soon as the lever hit the handlebars, so the motor stopped turning as soon as the rear did.

She and I ended in the ditch, fortunately she hung on to me
like I have always told her to do if we went down, and
she had no injuries. I just scraped my arms and my glasses cut my nose when the helmet hit them.
She was cool throughout the whole thing, didn't cry or get hysterical (to be expected since I'm the one that raised her), she just blamed me for crashing the bike :D

Damn brake worked fine when I picked the bike back up.

I replaced most of the parts out of my spares, still need to replace the left rear turn signal and install the master cylinder rebuild kit I bought from Z1. Tank has a small dent in it from the handlebars, but I'm going to leave it on for awhile even though I have a spare. Just to remind me to check the rear brake once in awhile, even though I never use it

With the new footpegs I'd have made the corner :D

Crashing the bike was no big deal, I've done it many times in the past so I'm used to it.

Damaging the bike was the depressing part :)

But at least it gave me incentive to do something about making the riding position more comfortable.

Next step is to recover one of my spare flat seats so I can sit a couple of inches farther back, I intensely dislike that step in the seat. I don't know what kind of material they use on the seats of the newer bikes, but I'd really like to get hold of some.
