speedometer gear drive was created by pgrojean
My speedo stopped lately while on a trip. I've determined that my problem is the drive assembly at the wheel on my KZ100 LTD. The cable when attached at the hub and disconnected from the unit does not spin (and is not broken) and I hear some funny noises coming out of the hub area. Is there a place to purchase new drive gears? I don't really want an old one, because it may not last long, even if I could find on ebay, though that may be my only option. I've pretty much restored this bike to original condition.
thanks for any suggestions....

you might check kawaskai.com, see if they have a break down and get the OEM part number, who knows you may get lucky and its still aval.

Can't imagine the unit going bad, but if so it was used on a lot of motorcycles all the way from the early 70s up to 1980. Used on KZ650, 750, 900, H1 ect. Chances of a bad used one is slim. Should be all over the junk yards. Otherwise you can probably buy the whole unit new, and gears separate if you'd rather. I'd just go used myself.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
