I'm in the process of doing the swingarm conversion on my dads 76 KZ1000 and I was wondering what wheel options I have as far as newer wheels. We have 91 GSX-R1100, but I was wondering if anything newer could be used. I'll try to get so pics up asap also. B)

I'm sure that you can use something newer but axle sizes will come into play if you use something too new. Also Zx hubs tend to be wider than Gsxr hubs so keep that in mind. Also pay attention to how the rear caliper is mounted. The ones that use seperate torque rods will be easier to adapt than the ones that don't.

If you get a chance go over to www.oldskoolsuzuki.info and browse through the forums. There are all kinds of swap info over there using a GS arm.

I gotcha. What would be the reason for going with something newer? Weight? Brakes? Just curious...

My dad has got me interest in building an old school Kaw myself, and I was just interested in what other wheels I could use, without going with an aftermarket swingarm. But I also kind of like the look of the two KZ's that were in 2Wheel Tuner a while back with 300 tires out back. If you haven't seem them let me know and I'll post a picture.

I have the mag. Not really my style but I give the builder credit for taking a different approach. I'm putting '95 Gsxr750 rims in a set of '01 Gsxr600 forks and a '91 Gsxr750 arm with my 900 project. I thought about using a newer 6" rim for the rear but don't see a rmeasurable advantage over a 5.5".
