I emailed the ebay seller and asked him some questions about the shocks.

1. Are they adjustable for Pre-load, Compression and Rebound?

answer: pre-load

2. Are they made in China?

answer: Assembled in China parts from Japan. I am not sure if that means all machining is done in Japan or not.

Again these look good but we dont know anything about performance. For $169 it may be worth a try but would be interesting to see a long term test. Lastly, the pic looks like there is compression adjustment but the seller said pre load only.

This is what mine looks like, so i consider to order this shocks.

I will think a little more about this until tomorrow.
"Real shocks" will cost at least 3-4 times more,or something, and these would function better then stock used ones anyway,
Maybe i get some used ones at this price in Norway, but i think they are infect even more expensive.

Those shocks look like ELR shocks from the 83/84 era.

Here's a pic of the same style on one of my bikes:

Yes its 83M ELR, and that bike has been parked in a moister garage since 1992...
Water was puring down the walls.

But they still had some air left in the reservoirs, after those years:P

But i was planning to use those Ebay shocks on the other bike, a 1000J, i think the ELR deserves something else, i couldn't resist use that shocking picture, hehe.

All I can add is pay attention to what both galaxian
and Jeff.Saunders have to say. Both guys have "been around the block" with these Z1s/big KZs.
I'm still trying to figure out both chain alignment and gear ratio issues with my GS arm conversion on my Z1A.
I'm very close, but still not satisfied with the progress I've made so far..
Good Luck with your issues.:)

i emailed one of the buyers and this is what he sent me

"Dear quader98,
The extensions don't work on a Vmax unless you drill them out. I've only ridden it once with them on and the drilled extensions(to make it stock length). So far so good! But now I see someone has anodized red ones now.

i would be interested in buying a set as well ...if it's worth it

Hi RoyNor, I've been silently watching your progress on your project/s, and I like what you have in mind.
I've been trying to score a GS1100 swingarm forever now, and I really didn't want to spend as much as they're going for. OTOH, 'busa and GSXR swingarms seem to be a dime a dozen, so I was thinking about going that route. Especially since I know some really good TIG welders where I work.
So, have you fit that 'busa swingarm to your bike? I'm real anxious to see how a KZ with an inverted 'busa or gixxer swingarm looks. And I'm also interested in the details, such as dimensions/clearances and what other parts you used. And, are you going to fabricate/relocate your rear passenger pegs, or just make her a solo bike?

531blackbanshee:

Well, you have seen my project, so i cant do any performance tests for a while:P , but i will investigate them closely, and take lots of pics :woohoo:

Its always a pleasure to contribute to sharing and helping to guide the community.

riverroad:

You could try the German Ebay, i bought mine GS swing there for 50 dollar for a month ago. Only drawback is the shippingprice then.

I have not done anything about the Busa swing yet, i could try to install it more proper so i could give you more accurate measurements, i could do that quite soon i think. I will post it on my project side.
I really liked that Busa swing too, so i need to decide, Busa or the GS swing on the first bike i will finish.
