NOS Seat KZ900/KZ1000????????? was created by runt
I have an OEM Kawasaki NOS seat. I'm not sure what year's and models this will fit. I saw a pic of a 76' KZ900 with this seat but was wondering what other bikes it will work on. I am interested in selling this seat and wanted some more info before I try to sell it. The part number on the box is 53001-130. Any info would be appreciated.

I would consider any "reasonable" offer. Let me know what you're willing to offer. I've been searching for these on Ebay and saw one listed for $400 that didn't sell. I would be willing to sell for much less than that. Let me know.

Per Kawasaki.com, seat Part # 53001-130 is the LTD style which fits the following models:

KZ1000-B1 (KZ1000 LTD) (1977)
KZ1000-B2 (KZ1000 LTD) (1978)
KZ1000-B3 (KZ1000 LTD) (1979)
KZ1000-B4 (LTD) (1980)
KZ900-B1 (LTD) (1976)

Bike Bandit lists the seat new for $180. But I am uncertain if this represents current pricing and availability or if all the associated under-seat hardware pieces are included. Would call ahead to be sure about these aspects, and shipping costs, and confirm whether it's oem or reproduction. :)

Here's my guess. The owner of a KZ900 (standard model) replaced the seat with a KZ900 LTD model -- a common and easy swap made by those preferring the stepped-seat introduced on the LTD model. And then stored the KZ900 seat in the box that the LTD seat came in. :)

My Z1 seat is stored in a box labeled "Corbin." :P

Please don't rat me out to the box police.

I'd have to say Patton is spot on with his guess. The good news is that a stock KZ900 seat will probably fetch you a little more money than an LTD seat will. Personally I liked the LTD seats better and wound up putting one on both the 76 KZ900's I had, but today the bikes that bring the really big bucks have to have the original seat. Kawasaki sold alot of LTD seats through their accessory catalog so they seem to be easier to find.

Thanks for the info!! You guys have been a great help. I had very little idea of what I really have until now. After closer inspection I can see tiny rub marks from the hinge pins and on the rubber feet from contact with the frame tubes. Likely came mounted on the bike but was never ridden at all.

Any idea of it's value?? I would estimate the condition to be 95% plus. There are two "extremely light" scratches on the cover at the rear, lower right hand side behind the rib.
