you can use a big rubber o-ring. It will keep the throttle constant by friction, but you can still adjust the throttle. When you get off the highway, you can roll it back onto the grip. Cost - $.80

What size o-ring did you use? Do you have a pic?

I even went for a lighter throttle spring from Canadian Tire so that I don't feel like I'm fighting the bike mile after mile. Works for me. ;)

Looking at this again, the lighter spring sounds like a feasible option. You do mean the heavy spring on the carb rack right? Is there a descriptor/designation for this spring or did you bring the rack spring in for size, do some pull strength comparisons and basicly guestimate it out?

Since my cables were new and my carb linkage was lubricagted the carb action was smooth and effortless without any return spring in place

I took the orginal spring with me Canadian tire and went to the section that has accessoris like window crand handles and the like. I found a few springs in that section. Then I just took one of the springs out of it package and it felt like about 1/4 to 1/3 of the the pull so I tried it.

Took it home and installed it. That's it, that's all. Sorry, no science to my method at all.

I suspected this was do-able since I had to do things like that to make my HD work when I was a kid.

Best of success.

I had a throttle lock on my bike years ago and liked it. Can't remember what happened to it.

I now have one of those throttle rockers like in bluemeanies post and like it as well. Lets me rest my hand when I want, but not remove my hand from the bars.

watch ebay. I got two new "Dixie brand" for $10 each including shipping a few weeks ago. Put one on the KZ and the other on the Vulcan.:cheer: I had to cut off the lower flange that is supposed to fit between the throttle cables and add a small screw through the nylon to the throttle housing. I've had one done like this on my Honda for over 100K miles now with no problems.

I've checked ebay, but, can't find any for less than 30 bucks. Can you post the seller's ID?

Also, my bike has aftermarket, foam grips. Will this create a problem?

Grip style doesn't matter, as the fixture simply clamps around the throttle tube, with tightness of the clamp being adjustable to personal preference. The clamp performs the same on a naked throttle tube without any handlebar grip. :)
