Seat latch question was created by fordtruck
Are there two different seat latches for KZ900's? I've been looking at seats on ebay and some describe an earlier mushroom style latch. Are the two completely different, or will either work?

Thanks

Mushroom style (lever and catch) is on Z1 ('73 '74 '75) the only three years for Z1.

'76 began KZ900 with new lock and "D" bracket attached under seat.

Uncertain whether KZ900 seat pan hinges and/or lock and/or catch could be easily retrofitted to Z1 or vice-versa -- but am guessing probably more trouble than worth, and would just stay with the correct seat to avoid fitment problems, especially if desiring a quick bolt-on seat replacement. :)

Thanks Patton. Do you know if the KZ900 standard seat pan is the same as the LTD? I'm having a tough time finding a standard seat.

Yes, the KZ900 standard seat pan is the same as the LTD.

Many standard KZ900's have been fitted with the KZ900LTD seat.

Would be careful to assure that seat in wide open position does not mash against top of the right side cover. A nylon strap may be fitted to limit seat opening position and make it "perfect." :cheer:

Good Luck! :)
