Quick handlebar replacement question. was created by Little B
When switching handlebars, do you have to keep the black end caps on the new ones when replacing the grips or does it matter?

I noticed that the original bars still had the end caps on them when I removed the old grips...

I don't think it really matters, especially if the old bars had them. Plus you'll save a little time by not removing them.

Those plugs are there to keep out moisture and keep the interior from rusting, but not that important, buy some bar ends

Thanks guys.

I tried putting on the new grips with grip glue last night but the grips had a reaction with it and the end ripped off! Going to use soap next time! :side:

Go under the bathroom sink and get your wife's can of heavy duty super hold hair spray. Spray inside the grip and slide that puppy on, adjust and will not move in 5 min. Will be solid within the hour. I done it this way for almost 30 years with different grips and have NEVER had one come loose!

I'll give that a go then. Hopefully they'll go on easier than the one did that I was trying to glue on. I had to brace the bike so that it didn't fall over from me pushing against the bar!
