Guys check this site out. They have some good pricing on chains, tensile strengths from 4,000 to 16,000 lbs. I just order a EK chain 525 ZVX2 130 links 9900 lb tensile strength, price paid with shipping $222.00 only the chain. I'm selling the chain when it
comes in.

Krause Racing
There 525 chain 130 links 12.000 lb tensile strength and (TI PENS) lighter and much stronger than the EK chain for just about the same price just a little cheaper. I got the chain cans of lube and 4 links and the chain is silver plateded shipping with in 3 days for $236.95 And there lube not the sticky type.

Check this site out - they make sprockets to.

How much of a power loss between a 525 and a 630 chain?

I've been running a 630 chain, but switch to the 525 it's a little lighter and smaller I can fit 18 front sprocket on the front to keep my rpm down and a little more clearance between the frame rail and tire. I'm running a GS1100 82 swingarm with a 17" x 6 3/4" wide rim and the tire is almost 7.5" wide.

So, I went with a 525 chain to give me more clearance between the frame rail and the rear tire.

I used a 630 sprocket mold and shaved the top part of the sprocket down to 3/8" of the size of 525 and then comes out to a 630 so the 525 is centered on a 630 mold, that gives me a little more clearance on both sides of the chain.

You can see the sprocket line where it come's out bigger to the 630.
I'm thinking almost 5% hp save.

I will try to upload a picture.

You can see how much bigger the 630 sprocket is.

The 630 is 39, and the 525 is a 40.

Use the shock as a guide line to see how much bigger there are.

Do you mean power gain?

The 525 means less unsprung weight (albeit small).

I'm not a retro specialist, but "I think" the O.E. 630 chain was chosen strictly due to availability.

With modern technology in the mix, I cannot see these bikes needing greater than a 525. I have always run 520s on my sportbike and I believe at ~170 rwhp they produce more force than my KZ900 ever could.

Guys I pop to 520 chains on this bike a ZX-7 94 with a zx-9 motor 14 .5 to 1 piston motor low 9s in the 1/4 mile run. I move up to 525 on this bike.
The chain I had on the bike EK 9300 pound chain 520 the 1st 1 pop at about 1500 miles and the 2nd chain pop at about just over 1000 miles. If your running I high hp bike I would say 525 and up,with high pounds to carry the motor load. The ZX-7 I was running the bike hard and drag racing the bike to.
