Help me find....
29 Dec 2007 15:59
I am looking for several metric screws and bolts and screws for my kz440 and don't know where to look. I need the following:
Handlebar holder bolts
Throttle (on handlebar) screws, the one that hold the unit together.
Clutch body screws (on handlebar)
That's all I can think of but maybe someone can tell me where to find these.

Metric vs. American size difference is based on, oddly enough, metric and American/English measurements. ie. - Millimeters vs. inches The difference will change diameter sizes slightly, thread angles, head sizes, etc. Give Ace Hardware a try to start with, they are usually more helpful and knowledgeable but some don't always carry what I need. So if not truck on down to your local Home Depot or Lowe's and camp out in the hardware aisle for a while and start pulling drawers open.

I've found that ACE Hardware has a better selection of metric hardware than either Home Depot or Lowes. Be careful with stainless bolts from any of these sources as their quality is determined more by price than strength.
If you can't find what you need from a local source you can certainly find it from here:
www.metrichardware.com/
Their prices are high but they will have what you need.

Sounds like you need 6 x 1.0 pan head screws and a 6 x 1.0 bolt. The handle bar bolts are probably 8 x 1.25. If you cant find them at the store send me a pm.

Well guys, I found most of what I needed at home depot. I am going to have to find oem type handlebar bolts for asthetic reasons but these will work for now. Does anyone know where to find a hardware set for my bike?

I have converted all bolts and screws on my 79 1000 to stainlesss\ allen heads even the bar clamp bolts they look much better than the original type and you dont hafta deal with stripped out phillips head screws.
