can I go wider? was created by firebird380hp
I have a 77 kz1000 I'm not much on bike wheels but the wheels on the bike look like ltd wheels. But they seem awful narrow to me. I want some wider tires can I do that? If so what would I have to get?If I can getb this pic. to work some of you look and tell me are these ltd wheels?

the rear tire thats on there now is MT90B16.and for some strange reason the front wheel and tire is 1.00/90-19.Would I be better off with stock rims? Or can I get a extended arm for the rear for a wider tire.Which would be the cheapest route for what I want?

You should look in the "Projects" forum here; anything is possible. If you're lookin' budget, then I don't know what to tell you...that'd be best answered by others around here. I like putting 17" late-model wheels on the old stallions, but that requires a bit of surgery, a bit of patience, and a bit of moolah (just a bit, not a lot, really).

Let us know some details on what you're looking to do.

i went as wide as 140/80-18 on the back of my 77 kz1000.
i've read you can go up to 140/90 with a stock swingarm. but to be safe, do the research first.:)

I also think the wheels that are on the bike are ltd wheels.I don't know alot about bikes but they are mags...and the last 1000 I had sure had spoke wheels on it which is what I like.I checked and with the tire thats on the rear now you just can put your little finger between the tire and frame.I don't know why in the world you would want a 19" up front and 16" out back to me it kinda looks jacked up in the front not much but some or it just may be the big difference in wheel size.

'73 Z1 oem rear tire size 4.00-18 equates to 110/90-18 which looks small in today's world. So fitted 130/90-18 to the rear Lester and had adequate clearances all around. But was disappointed as it looked too wide bulging over the wheel rim (like an ample belly hanging over a too tight belt). Replaced with 110/90-18 returning to stock size and appearance, which perfectly fits the rim but still looks small in today's world. Will next try 120/90-18, hoping for the perfect compromise. :cheer:

yeah understand what your saying in todays world thats probably what I'm dealing with.I want a beefer tire but with the older bikes maybe it just don't match.I don't want to put a tire on a wheel that would you look like it don't fit.To me that would be worse than having bicycle tires on a motorcycle.Maybe I should be just staisfied with what I have. But the mags have to go.
