310mm and 320mm rotors...ZX9? Help
29 Nov 2007 12:21
Help. I bent a rotor on what was supposed to be a ZX9 wheel, now we're trying to find a rotor to fit. It was sold to me as a ZX9 wheel, but the rotor is 310mm, I understand the ZX9 is 320. Somebody here was talking about 310mm rotors a while ago - does anyone remember what model they're off? Thanks.

Ew, just guessing here but I'm thinking most likely it's ZX7R isn't it? Also, if you call the local Kaw dealer the parts dept will have a program that will tell you what bikes share a part. Meaning that if you can accurately identify the rotor you have and ask the parts geek to look it up, all he has to do is push a button and he can tell you what other bikes that rotor was/is on...this way you can get the correct rotor even if it's not marketed (say on eBay) as the rotor for your wheel. ...just a thought.
Also, normally it's the carrier that bends and they can be straightened. If you want to go the 'repair' route Extreme Cycle in Topeka can handle it (785)234-5007.

Also, just thinking that it might be an earlier ZX6 item also.

Fossil,
EBC's online pdf catalog lists the Zx900E1/E2 ('00-'01) as having a 310mm brake rotor. So it's possible you could have a Zx9 rim.

Thanks, that does help. I've sold the bike to a friend, he's taken it to a shop to certify but the shop can't find a replacement rotor. I just think somebody's making a mistake ordering or shipping the wrong rotor.
I'm going to pick up the rotor and find a replacement at a local bike wreckers.
