Gas Tank Strap was created by 79MKII
OK, it's been a while since I disassembled this bike, and my memory is apparently not what it used to be. I seem to have forgotten how to install the rubber tank strap at the back of the tank.

Does it go up and around the frame or up through the oval in the middle or what? Did it go where the gussets are now maybe? Nothing seems right...

Could someone post a picture??
Thanks

If memory serves me correctly it goes around the frame tubes then to the tank. I have no idea what the oval hole is for in the gusset.

Reach around the backside of each of the outside tubes and you should find a knob sticking out of the tube. The strap has a hole on each end. The strap sits on top of the frame tubes with each end stretching around the tube and fastening onto the knob. The hole in the gusset has nothing to do with the strap.:)

"Reach around and find a knob sticking out"??:ohmy:I don't know what goes on in Texas, but no thanks!:P :P :)

Actually, that's how I had it and it does seem the best. Just thought there would be a better way. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

That hole was put there to make the bike lighter!

don't know if it's why the hole in the gusset was put there, but when new the Z1's had the carb vent tubes routed thru that hole
