I don't do any upholstery but a neighbor of mine does .... he just recovered the split seat on my 750LTD. He charges $100 per motorcycle seat ... even if it's split ... I think he did a marvelous job on mine !

Its actually pretty east to do. I did mine on my old 750. Biggest problem is if the foam is damaged. The whole pan has them clips that are pointy so its really easy to work it all the way around and keep it tight as you do it.

Few of mine did also. The only problem was on the back part with the sharp bend. Wasnt structural, just to hold the "slack". What I did.... where the tabs were broke I was able to get a rivet in the same hole and hold it in that area.

WG, there's a guy who's been advertising on the Dallas/FT Worth CL who claims to have 38yrs experience. Today, there was a post on CL with very positive feedback. His location is Wylie. Hope it's a good lead. Sorry I don't have the "link" thing down, yet. Learning about bikes and computers at the same time.:)

This is not rocket science guys.
If you can't do it yourself then any upholstery or seat cover or trim shop can do it
I hae never paid over $100 for any seat cover, except $125 for a show bike.

It's not that hard.If you need a few seats covered, get 1 seat cover and try it yourself. You may find it is easier than you think, who knows what may come of it...

Do I hear Wiredgeorge Seats ?

I don't want to buy a cover because I have a custom seat that fits a 79/80 shaft. The seat is a double bucket aftermarket type with good foam but is leather and the leather is cracked... the upholstery is is pretty plain with no buttons/tucks, etc. I would like to keep it plain but do it in vinyl I guess. I think what an upholsterer does it remove the cover and un-stitch the panels and cut new panels using the old as a template and then stitch them together. That would be pretty much what I would like to do.
