how to shorten stock forks?

I like my stock forks. They work great for me, I might have to replace the seals but anyways what i was wondering was, what is the best way to shorten the forks I would like to bring my front end down a bit. anyone got any ideas?

It would take a good machinest and some $$$. However, you could (space permitting) slide your forks higher up in the triple tree.

The poormans way slide them up through the triples. Depending on your type of bars (they will hit) the possibilites are endless.

THe $35 dollar way, send your forks to Franks engineering they will machine then to any length for $35. www.frankmain.qpg.com/ . Need to adjust the springs as well but that can be done yourself.

I have done both. Each has its pros and cons.

If you are taking them apart to replace the seals, you should do it the right way and install lowering blocks. They mount easily inside the forks and come in various sizes from about 1" to 4". This way, you could always return them to stock length, if desired. By the way, I just may know someone that has an extra set...:whistle:
