I believe it does, but I'm certainly not the expert on Dyna ignitions and I'll leave the definitive answer open to those more knowledgeable on the subject than I.

The Dyana 2000 does allow programable curves. But i dont think u need a new curve.Since the Dyna 2000 also comes with an electricaly genserated curve it eliminates the mechanical device and with that u get a more acurate and reliable curve. it also has a revlimiter(mine is not working and i must send it back for testing)it also haves provision for an added shift light.
When i went to the dyna my ping disapeared. Could have been my advancer, week coild points????? Who knows. But i felt it was better to relace all that questionable stuff with 1 new system for less money than the stock stuff.Worked for me. B)

Ok. Did you retard it slightly to eliminate the ping? And besides eliminating the ping, what else did it 'do' for you? Did you get a noticeable performance increase? Better mileage?

I cant say i got a performance increace.just no more ping.Remember i had points and a 31 year old advancer. my timing and curve could have been off a bit.
i felt i would rather start fresh than screw with that old stuff, and setting pints accuratly is a pain ita.
if your system is working good now ,u may not see a performance gain.i think u would be looking at an updated system with more acuracy, reliability, and added features. I got the coils too (2.2ohm for exra spark.)Z1 ent is best price for the set.i set my advance at 38.5*
but remember u arnt buying this just to get rid of a ping.u need to get that fuel system richer and that may solve your ping.

Thanks. I expect to get the variable fuel pressure regulator today and hopefully, that will get rid of the ping. An updated, programmable, 'modern' ignition system would be cool, but since I already have electronic ignition, I'm suspecting that as you say, the performance increase would be minimal. Now if I were changing from points like you did, I'd certainly go for it. Electronic is much better than (mechanical) points.

Good luck. Let us know how it all works out. Later, Mark S.B)

I may have virtually eliminated my pinging problem and I also may have caused it. First, the cheapo variable pressure regulator I was going to get is crap. On the first one, one of the nipples was completely striped and the replacement one leaked at the seams and wouldn’t adjust. So I’ve given up on those. But when I did the rebuild, I also replaced my fuel lines. I now noticed that my lower line coming out of the pressure regulator was kinked somewhat because of the way I threaded it. I rerouted it a bit to un-kink it and so far, my ping seems to be virtually gone. A kink will cause less fuel, which causes the mixture to be lean, which causes ping! We’ll see as I’m heading 400 miles south next week. Let’s hope me and the bike make it OK. :)
