Anyone Know???
18 Oct 2007 05:57
I just ordered a set of 12 1/2 inch shocks off a vulcan 750.They have a cap on top of each shock.I havent recieved them yet but was wondering if they might be air shocks?Didnt want to ask the seller for fear of him jacking up the reserve price!

I would not recommend taking all the air out... this would force the shocks to function outside there factory spec... now emptying most of the air to get a good starting point for adjustment... good.... just remember the less air and the lower the bike is the harsher the ride... too much air will have the same negative effect.. you should also try and find the info about recommended psi from factory... if you go to far outside the boundaries you will cause premature wear and tear of the shocks with the end result of wasted money..

Be careful to assure that letting all air out of rear air-shocks does not drop the rear suspension so much that the bike resting on side-stand tips over onto its right side.
So be ready to catch the bike if necessary to keep it from falling over onto its right side.

Makarth,My 650 leans a bit to much to the left for my liking.like the kickstand may be too short, but my spare is the same size!I was almost tempted to weld a piece to the bottom of the kickstand to get it to sit right. Some one here told me to bend the frame where the stand mounts to it but I just finished painting it and cant bring myself to do that! For now I put a 2by4 under it and it sits perfect.Only problem is its tuff to ride aroubd with a 2by4!

Boz650, It's not bending the frame, it's bending the outer mounting tab closer to the inner tab. Over time the outer tab bends out with wieght of the bike. Just a quick "tap" with a hammer will tighten thinks up. Put bike on center stand and see how much slop you have, this will confirm problem.
