bent wheel

I just bought a 78 kz1000 and found my rear wheel is bent from the previous owner droping the bike. Is there any way to straiten the wheel out or should I buy a new wheel? Any advice would be helpful.

More detail, please --

What is extent of damage?
Is this the stock spoke wheel?
Perhaps wheel may be trued via spoke adjustment?
Is rim bent (as in hit from side) or dented (as in pot hole or curb) or twisted entirely out of shape (as in collision with another vehicle)?

Is a photo available? :)

I wouldn't think of riding a bike with a bent wheel. Call my desire to live a long life without road rash a motivating factor.

True wheels are a safety item like good tires and solid brakes.

Check out ebay or in the kzr classifieds. Someone will be parting out your model and you won't have to worry about the wobble everytime you get on the bike.

I'm not sure what is causing the problem. But I'm think the rim is bent. Is it possible that all I need to do is tighten the spokes?

Thank you for your help. I took it to a shop and they had it fixed in about an hour. I didn't know any shop would do it. Thanks again
