Of all the sprockets you list the 16/38 would be of course be the lowest "numerical" ratio and would give the lowest rpm at a given speed but I ask what bike? 7500 @65 sounds like a little bike? Is this in high gear?

Engine revs go lower as your speed goes higher? Sounds to me like you have other problems...

the ratio on the bike is 16/38 now, anybody got an idea of what can cause the rpms to be 7500 at 65 mph in top gear?

reasons for high rpm. (1) clutch slipping (2) are the wheels and tires stock(if you have a smaller tire and wheel combo rpm's go up bigger rpm's go down) (3) is you speedometer right?

your rpm's going down as you go faster? thats odd it makes me think clutch slippage, but the clutch normally slips more with more throttle and also the faster you go. sounds like VOODOO to me :woohoo:  :woohoo:

speedometer is okay, everything on bike is stock, engine rev sounds right with tach read out, any other thoughts. how do you check clutch slippage?

the best way to tell if your clutch is slipping. in 2nd or 3rd get the bike up to around 4,000rpm and go wide open throttle. if your clutch is slipping the tach will jump up in rpm's but you wont speed up. if the clutch is good the tach and speedo will climb toghether. hope this helps a slipping clutch is pretty easy to diagnose.

oh yeah forgot to say my clutch was slipping a while back above 8,000rpm. it was due to worn springs replaced em' with the "red springs". a little harder to pull the clutch in but its worth it.
