Belt Removal

Can someone give me some insight on how to remove the belt? I'm trying to take the motor out so it is lose but the belt is getting stuck on my shifter shaft. I tried to remove the bolt holding the pulley on but that didn't work. Do I need a pulley puller?

Never mind I figured out how to take the top of crankcase off without pulling the motor out.
