its held on by a big wrist pin. remove the spring and then remove the pin and it should come right off.

You'll want to unhook the spring FIRST.The HARD part is getting that dang two part spring off without destroying your knuckles or the spring:S
I found a BIG set of curved long needle nose pliers helps.
There are TWO SHOULDER BOLTS that hold it on. You'll have to follow the center stand up to the mount to find them if it's dirty under there ( aren't they all ? ). . Once you get them unscrewed from the threads, then pull them out. They are about three inches long ( total ) and about as big around are a mans finger. The threaded part is only about half that size, and only an inch long.

Good luck!
A Kerker would sound and look better;)

Vaguely recalling technique of pushing pennies between spring coils while expanded to maintain spring length when relaxed. Might try this while spring stretched out with bike on center-stand. Leave pennies inserted and push bike off center-stand. Spring should stay expanded and be more easily removed. Same for replacing spring when reinstalling center-stand. :)

Warning: Above recollection is old and may be a mirage  , or could be thinking about some other spring  :)

Warning: The following are also related to old age.
I too remember something like that.. but for the life of me I can't remember if it worked..Sure sounds like it should. I think I might have maybe tried it...now what were we talking about??? Is lunch ready?? :pinch:  ;) :P
