Chain Guard
19 Sep 2007 22:37
Just finished rebuilding my 1980 KZ750E from axle to axle. Everything looks great except for the p.o.s. warped plastic chain guard. Anyone have any suggestions?

The original is $70 if still available. Guys with rigged or no chainguards: How in the world do you stand it? I mean having black grimey filthy oil all over you and the bike??? Never oil I suppose???

You might try a chainguard from a 750 LTD they are made of metal and chromed. In all likelyhood they should bolt right on to your swingarm. If you think you might like to go that route let me know and I can measure the bolt spacing on one of mine for you.

I had a really hard time finding the chain guard for my '81 KZ750E. I got a chromed one that, I think, was off an LTD, but it didn't fit. I lucked out and was able to find one. I hope you have the same luck as I did and can find one. They do come up occasionally on Ebay. There's a place here in town that might have one. I'll check and let you know.

Just for info, KZ550A1-A4 1980-1983 also used the same guard.
