Ebay forks... was created by Bluemeanie
Have seen these forks on ebay, no bids. Been relisted twice. Question... are all forks (other than CR,SR,LTD, etc) the same from I believe 78-80? Are there numbers I should check? They appear to be the same as mine. They appear to be in great shape, just needs minor polishing which is a plus for me as I like shiny stuff!

Going by the Kawasaki parts lists they use different part numbers for every model. Going by the picture those forks are not a 1977 KZ650B, could be 1978-up B or a 1977-79C. If it is in fact a 1978-up B, the lower forks are the same as your F1, but the upper tubes are not. If it's a 1977-79C fork, neither the lower or the tubes are the same as your F1. What the difference is is hard to say. They all use the same fork seals so tube diameter is the same, so any would probably work just fine.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Thanks Ron... now I'm really confused! :woohoo: I know the 77's had the caliper ahead of the forks? These look correct, mine have the holes for a second caliper (mine is single) hense maybe the different part #. I think lower tubes would be the same, just worried about length and diameter of tubes? Plus worried that he says there from a 77, he does not know which worries me. Anyone else?

Usually, the difference in the fork tubes is the length. That's been my experience with the 650/750 twins/1000's anyway.

Thanks Steell, soooo still don't know which forks to get. I'm assuming any forks off of a 78-80 KZ650 (no SR, CSR, LTD) should work?

SR forks will work, but not the CSR.

There is more info at www.rev-um-up.com/fork-tubes-honda-kawaski.htm

I'm only familiar with the 80 and older 650's, so I don't know if any later models will work.

I found the specs for 77-79 KZ650 which also match up with some 750's and 900's. Problem is, where do I get "specs" for my forks?? Anyone?

i would think that they would work, and for 10 bucks, i'd take the chance. i was out comparing forks, some of the differences would be location of the fork drain, depending on caliper location, and the fender mounts, either straight or offset. meaning i could take the left fork fron the 750B (front mount caliper) and put it on the right side of the 650 (rear mount caliper) and it would all work, but the fork drain would be on the front, and not the rear.

Here's the scoop.... Assuming the forks on eBay are from a 1977 KZ650, they are for a KZ650C1. The "C" models had 2 disk calipers behind the forks. Here's the good news. If you take a look at Kawasaki.com.

www.kawasaki.com/DefaultFrame.aspx?strCo.../VICHOOSEVEHICLE.ASP

and plug in your year and model, you should find that the 1980 KZ650F1 takes part 44006-1031 for the right outer fork leg and 44005-1031 for the left. If you then plug those numbers in under Part Number search, you'll see that they were used for a BUNCH of KZ650,750,and 1000 models from 1977-80. So finding these shouldn't be too difficult because there were plenty of them made. PLEASE check the part numbers with a dealer BEFORE you buy anything because Kawasaki.com (and I) sometimes get things mixed up. Ed

But hear is what #44013-1027 inner fork tube matches up with:

KZ650-F1 (1980)-->FRONT FORK

Looks like my inner fork is exclusive to my bike only!!?? Damn, I need to do some more checking. I think diameter is the same. According to another (Thanks steele) website, some tubes are 23' long and some are 24' long. MY HEAD HURTS!! :woohoo:
