hi,im new here.i just hauled in a 83 750 spectre.im going to get it ready to ride for next year.i have been searching the web for interchangebilty among the kz bike but havent found anything.i need several things including but not limited to:gas tank, have a hole in exhaust header and several rusty pieces.im wondering what other sizes, years will interchange items such as tank, exhaust carbs, suspenion, frame sizes, etc.there is a kz 1000 a few miles away not in bad shape that is shaft driven and has rear air shocks not sure of the year i will have to check but they cant get it started and will sell it for $50 last i knew.but as i search ebay and localy i would like to know what other kz stuff might interchange.anyone have any ideas about where i could get this type of info?thanks in advance.

My thoughts:

1. Your 750 Spectre is ashaft drive, but is otherwise mechanically closest to the 1980-83 KZ750H LTD models. The non-frame parts from the KZ750E models are often interchangible, since the basic engines are the same. You will also see some cross-over for parts in the later years KZ650 bikes (1981 and newer).

2. Anytime you can get a KZ1000 for $50 you are a fool not to buy it. Chances are that you can get it to run relatively easily, if you have any patience and mechanical skill. Those bikes are good for 100,000 miles.

This is what I do for fun, not for work. It is art, with a little engineering thrown in.
