front sprocket interchangeability was created by Kawlison
I picked up a 33 tooth rear sprocket for my 82'750 twin because I had a 40 tooth and I was winding high on RPM's at interstate speeds. I got the sprocket but it's for the 630 chain not my stock 540. Any ideas as to where I can find a rear sprocket around 33 teeth for my 530 chain? If I stay with the rear sprocket I bought I have to go to the 630 chain and a new front sprocket. I don't even know if the larger chain size front sprocket will fit my 750 twin's spline. Any ideas?

The conversion kits for the 1000's are basically the KZ650 sprockets. One of the 650 models should work for your 750. You can call Z1 enterprises and they should be able to help. Jeff set me up a couple of years ago when I converted from 630 to 530 on my 1000. Check out www.z1enterprises.com

Sprocket Specialist will probably make you a sprocket with 33 teeth, probably ~$65 (IIRC).

Lot's cheaper to change the front sprocket to a 17 tooth and run a 38 tooth (stock size for 76-80 750 twins) rear. I run a 17/37, and have used 17/38 in the past, and the bikes were (and are) perfectly happy cruising at 80 mph.

I suggest getting a new lock tab washer for the front sprocket and not re using the old one, I just had the front sprocket slide off the splines today because I used the original lock tab washer. Fortunately I was turning in the drive at work so I only had to push it 100 yards or so :)

I talked to the good people at Z1 and will stay with the 530 chain and go to a 17t front and a 38 rear. they had an 18t front sprocket but questoined whether it would rub. By next week I should know if I changed the overall ratio enough to live with.

Most of the 750 twin owners (me included) think the 17/38 works very well.
