Bent fork or triple tree? was created by vach
Hey guy's.. I just put new roller bearings in my head set.. When I took the bolts out of the upper triple tree the both broke and I couldn't get them out, so I bought one off of e bay.. The bearings I had were ball bearings in the triple tree and I was missing 3 of them for a while, so the bike was always loose a bit.. Now that it's all I have to lean left to keep it straight. The bike has been dumped quite a few times but I want to make sure that I know what's wrong before I go buy stuff. What is the best way to tell if forks are bent slightly?Could it be the upper tree? If one of the forks was weaker than the other could that make this happen? Thanks for all the help.

prior to taking it apart I would put the bike on the center stand and chock the front wheel, the measure both sides of the forks to the ground, and at diffrent points on the frame to see if it is in line, you can also attach a plumb bob on both sides of the bike for referacnce points
