need some help with levers...
18 Aug 2007 18:35
Heres the situation, My wife has an Ltd 440 (82) and she has baby hands. The reach on her levers, both clutch and brake are a bit to wide for her. I've spoke with Jeff at Z1 and the guys at Motion Pro with not much luck.
I'm wanting a set of step back style levers but, it looks like i'm going to have to do a bit of some custom fitting. I'm going to have to replace the brake resivour(sp?) and clutch perch.
Before i start i was hoping someone might have already attempted this.
I'm not too worried about the clutch side.I know that either Jeff or Motion Pro can make me a new cable as needed.
For the brake side, i see a new master cylinder and steel braided lines. Is there such a thing as using too big a master cylinder? If not then all i should have to do is find something that will fit her bars (diamiter).
Any insight or guidance here would be of a great help.

It looks like the Dennis kirk levers are the opposite of waht he wants.
Don't they put the lever farther from the hand grips?

I was going to suggest dog leg levers but vterbob beat me to it. I used to have a set on my bike and they do bring the lever closer to the grip.

Bob got em right. I'm (was) looking for the step down type levers. This way the wife doesn't have such a reach to pull in her levers. I ordered the clutch side this evening. We are gonna give this one a try. I'm still gonna have to custom fit a new master cylinder and brake side for her more than likely.
