i have a 1978 kz1000, the brakes seem to be sticking on me, sometimes when i go out to ride it the breaks are locked up na dsometimes they are fine,

new break pads?

Sound like your caliper pistons are sliding back in to the caliper. Have you taken the calipers apart and cleaned them?

fresh fluid may help if you're running 30 year old stuff

best to tear them down and see what's up
likely a good cleaning and ome new seals will fix you up.

I think what your saying is that at times the brakes are dragging hard before you ride, if that's the case it probably has moisture, and or air in the lines and caliper. I've had this happen and when the temp. (air or transfered heat from the brakes) rises, the moisture or air expands and applies the brakes. When it happens while riding it won't release completly and drags, causing more heat, causing more drag..... and so on and so on. When this happened to me it was fine in the morning going to work and would drag in the afternoon on the way home. I've also had the lever set too tight, and wouldn't release completly till I backed the ajustment off some.
