GT501s

Putting new rubber on the KZ650C. Since it seems lots of folks have had good luck with Dunlop GT501s, that's where I'm going. Since I know tire sizes vary a bit from one model to the next, I'm wondering what sizes I should get. Specifically, has anyone had any problems putting a 130/80 on the back?

I also have a 650C and I run 130/80x18 Gt501. No problems and I really like the tires.

I never used the 501s, but used the previous tire in the line, the K591 for 20+ years and no a 130/90-18 will not fit. A 120/90-18 rubs the stock chainguard even. If you remove the guard or use aftermarket then it may fit, but that is a poor solution.

Baldy, you must not have the stock chainguard on there with a 130?

Heheh. What chainguard?
My bike is far from stock - the missing chaingurad is only a small detail. I will probably either have to fab my own, or I have no problem modding one when I get one.

OK, then I'll say a 130/90-18 will fit then
I'd assume Baldy also doesn't have one or it's an aftermarket one because the chainguard is by far the first thing to rub the tire.

Actually, Baldy appears to have a GS1100 swingarm

So I'm not sure how relevant his response is

Hmmm. Nobody can confirm that a 130/80-18 GT501 will fit on a 650 with the stock swingarm?

In Reborn650's signature, he is running a 130 Spitfire on the rear of his 650. You might want to PM him to find out if anything special needed to be done to accomadate this.
Also, on tire manufacturer's websites, they have the specs for the actual tire width and such (130 may only be 128). Atleast, Avon had this info when I ordered tires for my FJ.
Good Luck.

Before converting to the GS swingarm I ran the 130/80 X 18 tire with the stock swingarm, but I did remove the chain guard years ago.

I didn't know that - I will try to find that info. Thanks!
