Z1 damping rod - need help identifying

OK guys I'm stumped. I was going to get me some race tech valve emulators so I blew my forks apart to measure the damping rods. I compared the ones in my forks to the Z1 parts diagram and they do not seem to match - let me know if I'm wrong.
Knowing that these rods could be out of pretty much any 36mm KZ fork or even H1, I checked parts diagrams for KZ650/900/1000 and compared them to an H1 rod assy I have, but they do not match anything as far as I can see. They're steel body, not aluminum like the H1 rods I have.
I need to find out what I have before I start ordering stuff. Also, the design on these rods does not lend itself to valve emulators as the oil would bypass the emulator - note there is no passage in the top of the rod where the valve emulator sits.

Does anyone know what this rod is out of?
As noted, these do not have a hole in the top of the rod, but 4 holes on the side (5.40mm) and 4 holes at the bottom of the rod (same ID).

Interesting, they don't look particularly familiar to me either. The end cap (where the damper rod holder tool sits) seems wrong...there should be two parallel flat sides on it and there doesn't appear to be. But I can tell you what they are not: I have 1977 and 1978 KZ1000 damper rods and it is neither of those. I know, thanks for the non-help:laugh:

Some 1981 550's used 36mm forks, but yours are not from a 1981 550, that's for sure. It looks more modern. Maybe try some Zephyr models.

McDroid, but that is help, it knocks another few options off my list.
Hey Lou, I was hoping you'd chime in, I'd looked at gpz parts diagrams as well. I'll look into the zephyr rods, good idea. I thought the fork were bigger on zephyrs, though. Mine are stock 36mm.

Doesn't appear to be Zephyr either. This parts diagram is from a ZL600, but the 900 and 1000 version look the same.
