How to put on a chain?

I tapped the link into position onto the pins using a small socket, with the o-rings in place, until I had the right width as checked with a caliper. Then I blocked the back of the link with a small sledge hammer and carefully peened the pin ends into rivet heads with a ball peen hammer.
