1977 KZ 750 Chain Adjusters???? was created by shawntmartin
I'm looking for 2 new or nicely used chain adjusters. Mine doesn't keep the tire straight after long rides. It tends to back out on one side (the nut doesn't stay tight). I've checked Z1 and bike bandit, and ebay but I didn't see anything for this bike.... strange?

The left side is the same as used on the Z1 and KZ1000 from 1973-1980, the right side is only used on the KZ750 which is strange. I'd just use both the right/left side adjusters for the 900/1000 which should work just fine. You're having a strange problem though if your wheel won't stay straight as these are basically just to get your wheel aligned. Once that's done and the axle tightened, the wheel should never move even if you completely removed the adjuster bolts. I've found this out a couple times first hand by forgetting to tighten the adjuster lock nut and losing the bolt in a short time. Had no effect on the alignment of the wheel because the axle is holding the wheel, not the adjuster bolts.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

?????????
I'm confused on your 2 comments about the adjuster bolts.

these are basically just to get your wheel aligned.

the adjuster bolts had no effect on the alignment of the wheel.

When I screw in the adjust bolt just on one side, the wheel will start to angle to the other side. Thats what these are for. So when one loosens, it angles the wheel. Thats even what the manual says.

Thats correct, they do the wheel alignment, however after the alignment is done the axle holds the wheel where you set it previously so once set you could take the bolts completely off the adjusters if you wanted to, and the wheel would never move because the axle is holding it. The bolts are not used to hold the wheel during rides, only for the initial adjustment then the axle does that job.
