having a 630 chain compaired to a 530 has been brought up before a lot. My thinking on this is back in 77 630 might have handled the power oh a KZ back then. Well technical advances in strenght over the years and desing advances I would have to say that the 530 of today is just as strong as the 630 of yesterday. Of course I'm sure price has something to do with this to. Obviously a $29 530 chain would be less strong then a $79 530 chain:pinch: .

I wouldn't hesitate on the 520 conversion. I've numerous sportbikes and the 520 AFAM and DID conversion has work beautifully.

Also, these KZs could use every bit of weight savings you can afford them.

Z1Enterprises has a nice section on the 530 conversion, search on 630 conversion to find it. I ordered sprockets and chain in 530 and will put them on asap.

Cheers

With regards to 630 to 530 conversion, these were my findings....

About tires, I think the bulk of the tire makers make decent tires. I base my tire selection on MY riding style. Mostly commuting and some pleasure riding. If you don't intend to grind the pegs to nubs then the D-404's will work well for you. I have them on my 550 and am pleased with them. I've also run a set of Cheng Shin (Avert your eyes Ron, I'm sorry) but they also performed satisfactory for MY riding style. The only tires I've ever used that I thought were complete junk were Kenda. The tires would follow every little grove and crack on dry roads. Were horrible in gravel and seemed to be made from bannana skins on wet roads.

I've got no real problem with Chen Shins. My wife rides a Honda 250 Rebel and those are what I put on there. They are comparable to the Dunlop 404s. Chen Shin is China made tire but works. Not a Avon or Metzler though. :)

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
